I like to watch tv while playing on my Yamaha NP30 digital piano. Typically, I play during commercials, but if the show is boring, I’ll play during the show as well. Anyway, there is a challenge that I impose on myself, and that is playing the song by ear.

Whenever you watch a tv show or anything, there is always music playing in the background. You hear it during movies. You hear it everywhere. People generally don’t really pay attention to it, but I do. Many times, you hear a piano, and when I do, I try to duplicate the song on my Yamaha NP30. Is it easy? Not really. It’s actually really difficult, and it takes a lot of trial and error. However, because one show usually plays the song music, I get multiple tries.

Have I been successful at it?
