Found a New Life in Houston

It was never my intention to move down here permanently. I came down here for a six month contract, but things worked out so that I decided to stay. The original contract was working to build a facility for reliant energy. They liked my work and my style of management. Apparently they needed some one to take over a job and they had not liked the last guy’s style. I do not really like to be yelled at and so I accord the people under me the same respect. From what I have heard this previous supervisor was a real yeller and they think he ruined his health from being too tightly wound. So they call me Mr Softee or some such thing because I just talk to people. Obviously some times I have to be stern, things will get done. It is just that I am not going to make it personal in any way. You show up and do your work, then you go home and watch baseball over a beer.

I met the girl I am dating at a church here in the Houston area. I was invited to a wedding by one of the workers and now it looks a lot like things are headed towards another wedding. It is easy to get along with her and there is not much to complain about. She went to Texas A&M and she has a computer science degree and a really nice job working for the city government. In fact she has more money than I do because she never spends any of her money. It is pretty obvious that her Dad taught her a lot about money, he is a small town banker from this tumbleweed town in the West Texas Hill country and she is really good with money.
