27 January 1999 In the time since the Junior Summit meeting in Cambridge in November 1998, the Junior Summit participants have regathered online to continue their work, and to bring their projects to fruition. Read about the current activities and projects that the Junior Summit kids are working on, as well as reports and presentations that detail their ongoing concerns. 21 November 1998 The delegates made their presentations in Kresge Auditorium on the MIT campus and wowed an audience of several thousand leaders from industry, academia, and government, as well as representatives from press around the world. Or, take a look at the new coutry the kids have established, Nation1. 16 November 1998 The Delegates who were chosen to represent the children of the online forum throughout the world arrived in Cambridge and began working on more solutions to a wide range of social, economic, and environmental problems. Participants worked face to face with members of the faculty and with technology at the MIT Media Lab 18 September 1998 Children in the online forum are breaking into groups to discuss topics of importance to them. These topics include child labor, environmental issues, and world health problems. 1 September 1998 The online forum began with welcome messages from Annette Tonti, Justine Cassell, and Seymour Papert. Participants are communicating by email and a special website -- using the latest in machine translation software. 31 July 1998 Mailing sent to the participants containing a CD of software and instructions for the online forum. 17 July 1998 About 1000 entries have been selected, representing 3200 children from 139 nations. 2 July 1998
26 June 1998 Our setup team in Africa began setting up computers and internet connections for several participants.
23 June 1998 The first shipments of computers was sent. 28 May 1998 We sorted through and judged over 4000 applications to the 1998 Junior Summit. Stay tuned!
